The Barn at High Point Farms

farm sign

The Barn at High Point Farms as a wedding venue began in early 2011.  What began as a hope to host several weddings a year to “pay our property taxes” and to have some extra to “spruce up the farm a bit” quickly turned into a full-fledged wedding business almost overnight. Each year and every year, we reinvested back into the venue to make improvements. We certainly have evolved over these many years to what we look like currently.  Now fifteen years later, we have made the decision to no longer host weddings after our 2026 wedding season ends.  Life is full of twists and turns, and this is just another phase of our life and our farm.

Question 1-Are You selling the venue/farm?

Let me get the first question out of the way first.  No, we are not selling the farm.  Nope, nada, never, no way Jose!  I plan to live out my life here and likely be buried on the farm.  I am pretty sure that my daughter Jill feels the same way.  The farm started out as our home, it has continued to be our home through our business’s history, and it will forever be our home.  Full stop.

This is our view-shed.  That peak of Lookout Mountain that you see in the background is indeed the “highest point” of the 100 mile long mountain range for Lookout Mountain. This is how we became High Point Farms. There is about a 3 mile stretch of community that sits below this peak that is called “High Point Community.”  We love this view and apparently you do too.  Each house, out-building, barn, and plot of land on this farm is full of our family memories.  This place is our family home first and fore-most and will continue to be.

Question 2-What will you do now?

Complete Our 2026 wedding season

We will finish out the year with a bang!  We have a very busy late summer/fall wedding season that we are excited to host.  They will have our full attention.  We plan to cherish every moment of this final season.

flower farm

We have been growing flowers way back once my parents began living here on the farm.  My grandmother even brought a slew of flower bulbs, seeds, tree and bush saplings, and more from her small farm in East Ridge to plan here on this farm. This means that some of the beauty of the farm is actually our heirloom plantings.  The fact that Jill has accelerated more and more is no surprise.  Jill has the flower and artistic gene from my mom.  With two greenhouses, flower beds galore, and a continued passion for florals, the flower side of our business will continue.  Brides from other venues already are securing florals from Jill and often, when time is available, she even accepts wedding floral decorating services for some of them.

Various Floral Events

We became a bonafide flower farm by the State of Georgia many years ago.  The flower gardens have not only added to the beauty of the farm, but accented our wedding business with florals, bouquets, table decor that came “farm to table” with outstanding results.  Other floral related events and activities followed.  We began hosting what we call “Pick & Sip” events several years ago on non-wedding weekends and such.  It brings great joy to visitors who come to the farm, meander the garden rows, and pick their own bouquets.  Goat snuggles which are often an added entertainment for those visitors are ripe for selfies.  We will continue these along with some flower workshops.

Extra Special Events

Our Spring Easter Egg Hunt and Mother’s Day Celebration have become increasingly popular.  These events also allow U-Pick opportunities but we go all in with additional activities like food services, plant sales, more animals, and more.  We are tickled to have quite a following of families who have made our Mother’s Day Event an annual event.  We usually do a few flower workshops too for those who want to learn more about growing flowers and/or arranging flowers.

Private U-Pick Events

extra outside event

Private U-Pick Events can be secured.  When we predominantly have been hosting weddings, it meant that our weekends were already taken.  Now, there will be more available dates.  These type events are perfect for church groups, team building groups, company dinners, and such.

Visit Us at the Market

market

Jill will continue to go to the Main Street Market and Lookout Mountain Market to sell bouquets.  Come visit us there.  Nothing better can put a smile on a friends face with a bouquet of fresh farm flowers like their mom use to grow. So, whether it is for a sick friend, a grieving friend, a new mom, or just to brighten up your own dinner table, pop by the market to grab a bouquet. Our farm flowers are so much prettier than the grocery store carnation bouquets.  Just look at these colors!

Continuing to do CSA's

CSA – Community Supported Agriculture.  This is a way to support our local business and in essence it is a bouquet prescription.  More details on the flower website below.

Farm Tours

I’ve been scheduling farm tours when possible.  These are for 2-3 people who want to know more about our farm.  I whisk them around the farm on my golf cart and go over our farm history, our farm evolution and goals, learn about our animal husbandry philosophy, visit more of our animals, survey the flower gardens, feed the chickens, and yes – visit our infamous goats. and tour the gardens.

Treehouse Cottage Rental

Treehouse for honeymooners

What was built specifically for our honeymooning wedding couples the night after getting married here at the farm, the treehouse began being rented out during Covid year as a way to survive that crazy financial year.  Fortunately, it has continued to be well-received.  Many of our lodgers are past HPF couples, but we have lots of mother-daughter retreats or guests who plan around these Pick & Sip events.  While on-site, add on a farm tour, U-pick, and even a bonfire!  We currently book through VRBO & Glamping Hub.  (*2 night minimum)

farm Homeschool

We began hosting a local homeschool group in the fall of 2020 during weekdays.  We added a Pre-K program last year with success and that will expand this coming fall with two separate classes; a 5 year old and a 4 year old pre-K class.  This is a Charlotte Mason theme pre-K program that embraces learning some basics plus being outside on the farm as much as possible too.  Check out this link to learn more:  Farm School.

Events By Request

We have often agreed to a variety of special request events like Family Reunions, Memorials, Corporate Events, Line-Dancing Events, etc. that we may still consider.  We are not wanting to fill in the gaps that weddings consumed but to slow down, have more control of our time, be more purposeful, enjoy community and family time.

Photo Shoots

Yes, we allow photography sessions here on the arm.  They need to be scheduled. There is a fee.  It is exciting when some of these photo shoots include past couples who come to do maternity photos or family photos.  It is heart-warming to know that they still have a connection to the farm.

is that all?

I don’t know.  Right now, we have our hands full with current commitments while doing many of the things on this page.  We are so grateful for the many couples who trusted us over the years for their wedding day.  We hope that we can continue a relationship with many of them (and their guests) throughout the coming years through some of these alternative options.

Transition in our social media

Jill already created a “flower and farm side of our business” website and Instagram.  Please visit those sites to learn more about all that I have mentioned.  Follow the farm on the new Instagram.  We will continue our wedding business website throughout this year to post our wedding photos from this year and to pick our Best of 2026 blog series too – an annual tradition.  Beyond that, we will slowly retire our wedding business website and social media.  But for now – please visit/follow/comment/like:  Instagram for High Point Farmsand check out the farm website:  HighPointFarms.co

Email for any of these farm-related inquiries should go through this email:  flower.highpointfarms@gmail.com

I still have a few blog posts in me that will continue throughout till the end of this year.  I love telling stories especially our farm stories.  Stay with me till the end.  Marige     P.S.  Comments Welcomed!
