You are in love and you just got engaged! Time to start looking for a wedding venue for your special wedding day. The clock is ticking and nowadays you know that you better book your venue first before you line up your other vendors. Don’t be in such a rush that you don’t think out the pros and cons of the venue before you book. Here is a list of 10 things you need to know before booking a venue. There has been an explosion of venues over the last 5-10 years. Rarely does a bride get married in a church anymore but though that is still an option, there are many more to consider. Planning a wedding is in essence marriage 101 as you and your groom learn more about what you want, what your vision for the day is, what food you like, etc. Planning each step of the wedding – starting with choosing a venue to what type of food you serve to what sort of sign in you have to whether you dance or not, should all tell a story about you and the groom.
A budget is a reality that all brides face but when planning this one special day, realize that you can likely find a venue that suits your budget as well as your style. Do you love the mountains, the beach, the city, or where? Is this venue the sort of place that you would want to hang out at? When your bridesmaids see your venue do they remark “oh, this is so YOU!”? We are obviously a barn venue but even barn venues come in all sorts of locations, looks, and vibes. Self discovery is a journey but you should know what sort of atmosphere is “so you” because if you choose wisely, you will be more comfortable in a place that feels “so you” versus just a place that is close to home, for example.
