The Old Farmhouse
The old farmhouse sits humbly at the end of the gravel driveway. Her journey has been long and the appreciation of her simple architecture and her many birthdays has finally come full circle. She was built not long after the Civil War and her life has been tough as she has been a home for many-a farmer's family throughout her 140+ years. After years of use and, frankly, some abuse and neglect - she is finally hitting her stride again. Her renovations have been as authentic as possible - keeping as many of her aged boards and floors and features as feasibly possible. Her beauty and even her imperfections are contributing to making the most amazing photographs - more so than I could ever have imagined. Daughter (and my business partner) Jill and her family live in the farmhouse but allow the brides to enjoy the front room to prepare and hang out before the ceremony. A place that gives you a bit of privacy so you can chill - a place to prepare - a place that is either air-conditioned or heated (as needed) - a place to have some silly moments with the bridesmaids - and an opportunity to step back in time a bit and feel the flavor of this vintage and homey old farmhouse.
THE GROOM'S ROOM; A.K.A. "THE MAN CAVE"
We have completed an area for the guys to change - to be able to leave their belongings - be able to cool down in an air conditioned room when the temps demand it - and close enough to be beckoned when needed. Our Man Cave is primitive indeed but with the leather couch and chairs, extra large wall mirrors so that they can primp if they need to, snack if they wish, and chill under a large a/c unit - what else do they really need?
